Graffiti charges, Redlands
Police have charged a number of offenders in an operation targeting graffiti offenders across the Redlands.
Officers from the Bayside Property Crime Team, working in partnership with Redland City Council and the graffiti management site, Vandaltrak, commenced Operation Hercinia in April this year to identify and prosecute recidivist graffiti offenders targeting the local area
Thousands of dollars of damage had been caused to council infrastructure, roadway fencing and roadway signage.
As a result of the operation, offenders have been found guilty of 328 graffiti offences as well as charges relating to possessing dangerous drugs and tainted property.
The operation has also resulted in a significant amount of restitution being ordered to be returned to Redland Council.
Police expect to make further arrests as part of Operation Hercinia and will continue to work closely with Council and Vandaltrak to identify further offenders and restore areas targeted by Graffiti.
