Armed robbery charge, Victoria Point
A 26-year-old man has been charged after a woman was allegedly robbed while driving her vehicle at Victoria Point yesterday afternoon.
It will be alleged around 6pm a woman was stationary in her vehicle at the intersection of High Street and Bunker Road when a man opened the driver’s door and threatened her with a knife.
The woman was allegedly forced out of the four-wheel-drive before the man drove away in the vehicle.
Members of the public who witnessed the incident ran after the vehicle in an attempt to stop it.
Police located the vehicle on Mount Cotton Road at Mount Cotton a short time later. The dog squad arrested the man after he was located in nearby bushland.
A 26-year-old Thornlands man has been charged with eight offences including one count each of armed robbery, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possessing dangerous drugs, failing to dispose of a syringe and unlicensed driving.
He is due to appear in the Cleveland Magistrates Court today.
